Breath is life. From the moment that we take our very first life-giving breath, until the moment that life leaves the body, our breath is a constant, faithful and trusted companion that acts as a bridge between the physical, mental, emotional, relational and spiritual aspects of our being.

Breathing is both completely automatic and can also be brought completely under our control, offering us a wonderful opportunity to master the body-mind system and enhance performance across all areas of our lives.

What to Expect?

Theory + Exercises+ Question/Answer

  • Understanding how our physiology underpins our emotions, feelings, thoughts and behaviour and how taking back control of our physiology by using the breath can improve the quality of our thinking and ultimately our performance
  • Introducing the concepts of heart rate variability (HRV) and coherence and how they affect our physical, mental and emotional state from moment to moment
  • Exploring the recent scientific research regarding the respiratory pressure wave generated by the movement of the thoracic diaphragm functioning as a pump in the body 
  • Learning and experiencing rhythmic/paced breathing, ‘Coherent Breathing’ and the ‘Six Bridges’ relaxation technique
  • Some of the benefits of these techniques include:
    • improving the circulation of blood and other fluids around the body
    • rebalancing the autonomic nervous system, reducing stress and anxiety levels and stimulating the parasympathetic (rest/digest/recover) response
    • increasing the supply of oxygen to the brain
    • generating more alpha brain waves leading to improvements in mental coordination, complex problem solving, creativity, calmness, alertness, mind/body integration and learning
